Calphalon Copper Cookware Cleaner

Posted by admin on Dec-8-2008

Copper cookware is popular because it is an excellent conductor of heat. Hence the popularity of the Calphalon Tri-Ply Copper cookware.

Ironically, it is the high heat that also causes the copper to discolor. After a period of use it will develop a dark organish, purple or bluish look to it. When the Calphalon Tri-Ply Copper cookware changes color - and it will - do not worry as its performance is not compromised. While some people like this orangish-bluish look, I prefer to maintain the “brand new” look. One way to bring back the shine is to make a flour paste with salt and vinegar. Just add enough vinegar to the flour to form a paste. Then add enough salt so that it almost dissolves but does not remain grainy. If its too grainy, you risk scratching the copper. If you are like me, I like to keep my life simple. With two kids I don’t have time to make paste and potions. I prefer the commercial copper paste cleaners. Its cheap, quick, easy and simple to use. For under $10 you can pick up some good quality copper cleaners. I prefer the Calphalon Radiance Cleaner. Its great on the copper (and seems to work equally well on stainless steel).

p.s Copper cookware is not recommended for use in dishwashers. Dishwasher detergents discolor the copper and it is almost impossible to restore the copper cookware to its original condition.
